FAQs

Q: We don’t have a piano at home. Can my child still take piano lessons?

A: Learners who wish to study piano must have daily access to an instrument. While acoustic pianos are preferred, you can learn just fine on an electric keyboard. If you do not have access to an acoustic piano, then a full-size keyboard (88 keys) with weighted keys is the next best thing.

Q: How often should I practice each week?

A: Practice length and frequency vary depending on age and skill level. In general, all learners should strive to practice 5 days a week. Practice sessions should be a minimum of 10 minutes, starting with the Primer Level books, then adding 5 minutes for every new level achieved (i.e. 15 minutes for Level 1, 20 minutes for Level 2, etc.). In my personal experience, half the battle is sitting down at the piano. Once I’m there, the time flies by, an hour is over before I know it, and I’m in a much better mood because I just made music!

Q: How often are individual lessons and for how long?

A: Lessons occur weekly for 30, 45, or 60 minutes.

Q: What are your rates?

A: For individual lessons, my rate is $50 per hour. This translates to $37.50/45-minutes and $25/30-minutes. For parent-teacher check-ins, my rate is $35 per hour. Participation in recitals is currently free of charge, and families are invited to donate $10 to help cover expenses related to venue rental and reception.

Q: What is your payment & cancellation policy?

A:
