Make it Your Own!
The following is my personal take on a singer’s brew. The balance of ingredients you see here has developed over time and suits my own unique taste. I invite you to try it, tweak it, and make it your own.
What You Need
1 large mug or mason jar + lid
1 tea strainer
16 oz water, freshly boiled
1 T (round) fresh ginger, peeled & grated
1/4 tsp turmeric
2 tsp raw honey
1 T apple cider vinegar
1 healthy dash cayenne pepper
1 T real maple syrup (optional, for a sweeter twist)
What to Do
Place ginger in tea strainer. Stir all ingredients except for ginger into just boiled water. Stir. Add tea strainer with ginger. Cover and steep for 10 minutes. Enjoy!
Optional: Once you get to the bottom of your bevvy where your spice mix has settled, add more just boiled water to continue to nurse the yummy ginger and warming spices. Sometimes I’ll sip on the same glass all afternoon, adding hot water every so often. If the flavor isn’t to your liking, you can sprinkle in any of the original ingredients to taste.
Why I Love It
This singer’s brew is healing, warming, and downright comforting any day of the year, but especially during fall as the weather is beginning to cool. Other benefits? It aids in digestion, reduces inflammation, and cuts through and clears out pesky phlegm, making singing a much more enjoyable experience. I drink this prior to performances and on days when I need a little kick to my digestion.
